Raised around Pekin, Illinois, he lived for many years inside Chicago, Illinois, where his career around art began. Brandl has lived primarily around Switzerland since 1988. He exposed art, art history, literature & literary theory at the University of Illinois, Illinois State University, Col Pac University, & is presently working in a Ph.D. at a University of Zurich.
